This policy covers this website. Our firewood shop at firewood.ballinafaghfarm.ie runs on Shopify and has its own privacy policy covering orders, payments and delivery.

What we collect and why

When you email us

If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write. We use it only to reply and deal with your enquiry, because we have a legitimate interest in answering messages (or because you've asked us to take steps before an order). We keep emails for as long as we need them for your enquiry and any follow-up, then delete them.

Analytics, only if you accept

With your consent, we use Google Analytics, from Google Ireland Ltd, to see how the site is used: which pages are viewed, how people found us (for example from a search or a link), their approximate location (country or town, worked out from the IP address) and the type of device and browser. This helps us understand what's useful. The legal basis is your consent. Google Analytics keeps this data for no more than 14 months.

Advertising, only if you accept

With your consent, we use the Meta Pixel, from Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd, which runs Facebook and Instagram. It tells Meta which pages you visit here, which blog posts you read and when you click through to our firewood shop, along with your IP address and browser details. If you're logged in to Facebook or Instagram, Meta can link this to your account. We use it to show our posts and ads to people who've visited the site and to see which ads work. We only see grouped reports, never who you are.

For collecting this data and sending it to Meta, we and Meta are joint controllers under Meta's Controller Addendum. What Meta does with it afterwards is covered by Meta's Privacy Policy. The legal basis is your consent.

If you accept both analytics and marketing cookies, our Google tag also tells Google Ads, from Google Ireland Ltd, about your visit. We use it to show our ads on Google to people who've visited and to measure which ads lead to orders. The legal basis is your consent.

The homepage video

The video on our homepage is hosted on YouTube, which Google runs. It only loads when you press play. YouTube then receives your IP address and browser details and may set cookies, as described in Google's Privacy Policy.

Running the website

To show you the site, your browser connects to our hosting provider and to services that supply parts of each page. They receive your IP address and basic browser details, which they need to deliver the content and keep it secure. They don't set cookies on this site:

  • Vercel hosts the website and keeps short-term server logs.
  • Sanity supplies our blog posts and their images.
  • Shopify supplies the firewood photos and handles “Add to basket”.
  • Google Fonts and Adobe Fonts supply the fonts.
  • Amazon CloudFront supplies scripts from Webflow, which the site was built with.

The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a website that works and is secure.

Who we share it with

We don't sell your data or share it with anyone except the services named above. Some of them are based in, or send data to, the United States or other countries outside the European Economic Area. When they do, they rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses to protect it.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal data we hold about you and give you a copy
  • correct it if it's wrong
  • delete it
  • restrict or object to how we use it
  • send it to you or another organisation in a portable format

Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. For cookies, use . Withdrawing doesn't affect anything done before.

To use any of these rights, email hello@ballinafaghfarm.ie. We'll reply within one month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we use personal data, we'll update this page and the date at the top. See our Cookie Policy for the full list of cookies.
